Who creates our content
All calculators, guides and articles on BMI Calculator NHS are written by the BMI Calculator NHS Editorial Team — a small team focused on UK public-health topics: adult BMI, healthy weight, child growth, calories and related measures. We are health-information writers, not clinicians, and we do not present ourselves as medical professionals.
How every page is reviewed
Before publication, each page goes through an editorial review: a second member of the team checks the text for accuracy, clarity and consistency, and verifies every key health claim against the published guidance it cites. We do not claim review by an individual doctor or clinician — where a page says "Editorially Reviewed", it means this team review against current published guidance.
Sources we check against
Our content is prepared in line with current published guidance from: the NHS (including NHS adult BMI guidance, NHS healthy weight information and NHS child BMI guidance), the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) obesity guidance, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO), and — for child growth tools — the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) UK-WHO and UK90 chart specifications. Individual pages list their exact sources in a Sources section.
How we keep content current
Health guidance changes. We review our highest-traffic pages at least twice a year and update any page promptly when the underlying NHS, NICE, CDC or WHO guidance changes. Each page shows its last-updated date.
Corrections
If you spot an error, email us via the Contact page. We investigate every report, correct confirmed errors promptly, and update the page's last-updated date when we do.
